Nazir Ajmal has a dual role in the family business, as both Chief Operating Officer and Chief Perfumer. In addition to his responsibilities towards Operational aspects of the Ajmal brand and its fragrances, Nazir is directly involved in the creation of the fragrance house’s perfume lines.

Born in Mumbai, India and to a family of perfumers, Nazir, the youngest son of Ajmal Ali, the founder of Ajmal Perfumes, followed in his father’s footsteps to develop the flourishing family business, which has grown from a one-man operation to a global conglomerate. At an early age, he realized his inclination for fragrances and his extraordinary sense of smell, which would soon become his most valuable asset.

After learning the ropes of the family business in India, Nazir moved to Dubai where he was put in charge of Ajmal Perfumes retail operations. In Dubai, Nazir concentrated his efforts on creating oriental fragrances, made from natural and synthetic ingredients. In his pursuit to modernize a traditional business, he trained under a renowned French perfumer and then utilized his exposure to give the regional oriental perfumery a modern twist. Being an innovator he took the local perfumery industry and elevated their status multi-fold by incorporating modern western ingredients thereby creating a fusion of east and west. This contribution has helped to establish Ajmal Perfumes as a regional fragrance powerhouse specializing in both western and oriental perfumes.

Throughout his training in the world of perfumery, Nazir has established deep-rooted professional relationships with some of the finest perfumers and fragrance houses in Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. His expertise in the perfumery industry, especially in oriental fragrances, is highly regarded among perfumers in Europe, who regularly consult him on the development of new formulations.
