As part of its commitment towards promoting medical welfare, the HAMM Public Trust runs the two medical establishments, the Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Charitable Dispensary and the Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital

The dispensary, which was set up in 1986, at Hojai, provides free medical treatment, including medicines to approximately 300 needy patients daily. Other areas of focus include child health care, carrying out immunization programs and educating people in prevention against waterborne diseases, which afflict 70% of the north- eastern region's population.

Healthcare The state-of-the-art Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital and Research Center, which was commissioned by Mother Teresa in Hojai, Assam, in 1992, is one of the largest charity hospitals in the country, and the first of its type in rural India. With a mandate to providing free treatment to the rural poor, the hospital is currently undergoing a massive expansion program, which when complete, will make this 350-bed facility one of the largest rural hospitals in South-East Asia.

In addition, the Trust organizes short-term 'Medico-Educative camps in backward areas to promote awareness about primary health care, family planning, AIDS and other diseases amongst the rural populace. Exhibitions, seminars and training workshops are also regularly conducted towards the same purpose.
